The design and page layout of any web page is very important. Page layout can cause a page to look professional or can have completely the opposite effect. Page design can even have an impact on search engine results. Search engines read a pages text from top to bottom. Therefore, make sure you utilize your main keywords and keyword phrases near the beginning of your content text. You should make sure that important text is positioned before non key word related text like your street address, phone number or links to other web sites. Some search engines ignore meta tags and gather information about your site directly from your web page text. They will use the first 100-200 characters of text as the description displayed with its search results. As with meta tags its important to position your main keywords and keyword phrases at the beginning of your content text. For additional information on the importance of keywords refer to the Meta Tag section of this text. Main keywords can and should be used as headers for paragraphs. Some search engines will place special emphasis on text used as a header that is bold and in a larger font than the balance of the content.

The number of times a keyword is mentioned in the content text of a page can also have a positive affect on ranking. Please do not try to outsmart the search engines. Do not for example repeat a word over and over. Some search engines consider this spamming and it will greatly reduce your chance of obtaining higher page rank. I suggest using original content text rich in keywords that are appropriate and make sense. If it does not sound good when you proof read your text, do not use it.
