There are two different schools of thought when it comes to website design. Some recommend hiring a professional design firm or graphic artist. You would then end up with a truly professional looking web page. In many cases your web page will be the first impression with potential customers so making a good and professional first impression is extremely important. The down side is that anytime you want to change the design or content you will have to go through a middleman or webmaster and their may be charges. Many software programs now make it relatively easy to create your own web page. Creating your own pages allows you total creative control and the ability to update the site, its content and related ads, affiliate products and other profit centers without incurring any cost. Many web hosting services also offer free web design programs. These programs have standard templates that allow even the beginner to quickly and easily publish a professional looking web site. I use Microsoft Front Page software to create all of my web pages. Front Page requires a slight learning curve but with a little experience anyone can quickly produce professional looking web pages. The added benefit of being your own webmaster is that you will be able to use the same design program to export HTML code and greatly enhance the design of your online auctions and email marketing newsletters. Either way you choose, I highly recommend learning some basic HTML code. You will need to know the basics to insert images, create hyperlinks, and do some other basic text formatting.
