Kindle is Amazon.com version of an electronic paper, or electronic book reader device. The device’s display is designed to mimic the appearance of ordinary ink on paper. Unlike a conventional flat panel displays, which uses a back light to illuminate its screen the Kindle display reflects light like paper. Amazon has now provided ebook authors with another way to earn profits. Amazon has set up Kindle publishing. Basically, ebook authors convert their standard PDF format ebooks into HTML code. For all text publications this is a fairly simple process. There are several online services available that convert PDF files into HTML code. Unfortunately, for heavily illustrated books the process is not as simple and may require paying to convert your file. Once your book is in HTML code you can go to Amazon’s Kindle publishing and create a Electronic reader version of the text. Amazon will then market the product and authors will earn a commissions on every Kindle book sold.
